Meet Jodi Salvo
Representative Jodi Salvo serves Ohio’s 51st House District, representing Tuscarawas County and portions of southwest Stark County.
Raised on a dairy farm, Jodi learned early the values of hard work, faith, and service to others. Her rural roots shaped her understanding of family farms, small businesses, and the importance of local control. That passion for rural communities led her to become more deeply involved in public policy and ultimately to serve in the Ohio House of Representatives.
Jodi earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from California University of Pennsylvania and Marywood University. With a professional background in social work and prevention, she is an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant and has spent her career serving individuals and families in medical settings, home health care, nursing homes, residential treatment programs for high risk youth, and community based social service agencies.
Prior to entering the legislature, Jodi served as Director of Prevention Services at Ohio Guidestone, a behavioral health organization serving children, families, and communities. She led initiatives focused on substance use prevention, suicide prevention, expanding access to treatment, and strengthening recovery support systems. She also coordinated coalition development efforts, through Empower Tusc, bringing together schools, law enforcement, faith leaders, and community partners to address addiction and behavioral health challenges locally.
Jodi has remained deeply engaged in community leadership. She has served as President and advisory council member of Ohio’s Statewide Prevention Coalition Association, a board member for the Ohio Prevention Professional Association, and as a member of the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. She has also partnered with local organizations including the Tuscarawas County Addiction Task Force, Children and Family First Council, Tusc Against Trafficking, Healthy Tusc, Access Tusc, and the Tuscarawas Chamber of Commerce.
In the Ohio House, Jodi serves as Vice Chair of the Children and Human Services Committee and as Co-Chair of the Aging Caucus. She is active in the Pro-Life Caucus, Rural Caucus, Rural Hospital Caucus, Mental Health Caucus, MAHA Caucus, and Ibogaine Treatment Study Committee.
Jodi has been married to her husband, Phil Salvo, for 35 years. They are proud parents of two recently married sons and feel blessed to welcome two wonderful daughters in law into their family. She remains committed to serving the people of her district with the same dedication and values that shaped her life and career.
